New Delhi: The COVID numbers in India continue to witness a steep increase, with 1,41,986 fresh cases being registered in last 24 hours, against 1,17,100 recorded during the preceding day.
At least 285 deaths due to COVID were also reported in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said today.
The daily positivity rate has increased to 9.28% and the active cases stood at 4,72,169.
The Ministry said 3,071 Omicron cases were reported in 27 States/UTs of India so far and 1,203 have recovered.
The cumulative death toll due to COVID has risen to 4,83,178.
Yesterday, the government reported 1,17,100 fresh cases being registered in the preceding 24 hours, a figure that returned after 7 months.
A total of 302 deaths due to COVID were also registered during those 24 hours.
Earlier, the COVID figures had peaked on June 4 last year when 1,20,529 cases were reported.
On Thursday, the number of fresh single day COVID cases reported was 90,928.
