New Delhi: Suzlon Group, India’s largest renewable energy solutions provider, has bagged an order from First Energy 5 Private Ltd, a Thermax Group Company, for supply of 13 Wind turbines with a rated capacity of 3 MW each.

The project to be located at Thalaikattupuram in Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu, with a total installed capacity of 39 MW, is targeted to be completed by next year, according to a press release issued here by Suzlon.

Power from the project will be utilised by group of captive customers by First Energy 5 Private Limited under the Group Captive mechanism, it said.

A project of this size can provide electricity to over 32,000 households and curb up to 1.26 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, the statement said.

This order is part of a 100 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid project by First Energy 5 Private Limited, Suzlon said.

As part of the agreement, Suzlon will supply the wind turbines (equipment supply) and supervise the project including erection and commissioning. Suzlon will also provide comprehensive operations and maintenance services post-commissioning.

The statement quoted Director of First Energy 5 Private Limited Ravi Damaraju as saying that India is blessed with a potential of more than 300 GW of wind energy and his company is committed to unlocking India’s renewable energy potential to power the commercial and industrial sectors.

“We are focussed on increasing our green energy footprint in India and look forward to creating many landmark projects in the future that will help us power our customers’ growth and electricity requirements with clean energy,” he said.

Suzlong Group CEO J P Chalasani said, “This is our first order with the (Thermax) group and features our 3 MW series product, which is one of the largest wind turbines in India today. We believe this series will play a crucial role in fulfilling India’s renewable energy goals.”
