Srinagar, Nov 6 (NVI): The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday conducted searches at six locations across the Kashmir Valley in connection with a terror recruitment case, officials said.
The searches were carried out at residential premises in Budgam, Srinagar, Bijbehara and Mattan areas of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, besides a village in Pulwama district, they said.
An official said CIK teams conducted the searches in coordination with local police and revenue officials in the presence of executive magistrates.
The searches were conducted in connection with FIR No. 07/2023 registered at Police Station CIK Srinagar, which pertains to an alleged terror recruitment module accused of using social media platforms to radicalise and recruit local youth into proscribed terrorist organisations.
The investigation was initiated following inputs that individuals based in Pakistan, allegedly in coordination with handlers of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and other banned outfits, were using social media platforms to lure Kashmiri youth and instigate them against the sovereignty and integrity of the country, the official said.
Further details regarding recoveries or detentions, if any, were awaited.—(NVI)
