Srinagar: A terrorist and a policeman have been killed while 3 Army personnel and 2 civilians have been injured in a fierce gunfight which is underway between terrorists and security forces in a locality of Kulgam district of Kashmir.
The encounter in Pariwan area of Kulgam started at around 8.30 pm after hiding terrorists fired at a security party.
The security forces came under attack when they were laying a cordon following input about presence of terrorists there, police said.
Nearly 2 hours after the start of the encounter, the police tweeted, “One police personnel SgCt Rohit Chhib attained #martyrdom, 03 Army soldiers got injured. 02 civilians also got minor injuries. 01 #terrorist of #terror outfit JeM killed. #Operation continues.”
JeM or Jaish-e-Mohammad is a Pakistan-based terror outfit.
