Srinagar, Sep 5 (NVI) : The terrorist killed in an encounter with security forces in Budgam district has been identified as Yasir, a Pakistani national affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit, Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Saturday.
While sharing this information in a post on X, J&K Police said, “You Can Run But You Can’t Hide!”
The operation, codenamed ‘Operation Ashdar’, was launched by the Army, J&K Police and CRPF on the basis of specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
According to the Army, security forces noticed suspicious movement during the search operation and challenged the suspected terrorists. The terrorists opened fire, triggering an exchange of fire in which one terrorist was killed.
An AK-series rifle and other war-like stores were recovered from the encounter site, the Army said.
The operation had been underway since Thursday, with security forces continuing searches in the area following the encounter.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar, visited the operation site on Friday and reviewed the security situation and the ongoing search operation.—(NVI)
