Srinagar: A terrorist was today killed in an encounter with security forces in Awantipora in Kashmir, police said.
The encounter took place in Nambal village of Awantipora sub-district in Anantnag district this evening during a search and cordon operation of the security forces.
The search operation was launched following specific input about the presence of terrorists in the village, the police said.
While the search was being carried out, the security forces came under fire from inside a house.
In the retaliatory firing, one terrorist was killed, the police said.

This was the third encounter in Kashmir valley in the last 7 days and 4 terrorists have been killed so far in all these.
