New Delhi (NVI): Three convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case — Akshay, Pawan and Vinay — today approached International Court of Justice (ICJ), seeking a stay on the execution of their death sentence.
They moved ICJ moments after the Supreme Court rejected a fresh plea filed by Mukesh Singh, one of the four death row convicts in the case, alleging that his lawyers had misled him.
The top court also said that Mukesh had used all the legal remedies available to him.
The four convicts, Mukesh Kumar Singh, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Akshay Kumar Singh are to be hanged together at 5.30 am on March 20, according to an order by Delhi court earlier this month.
A 23-year-old woman was gang-raped and assaulted inside a moving bus in South Delhi by six persons, before being thrown out on the road on December 16, 2012. She later died on December 29, 2012, at a hospital in Singapore.
