New Delhi: Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds exceeding up to 40 kmph are very likely to occur over the parts of North India, including Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the IMD said today
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), “Thunderstorm with lightning & gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) very likely at isolated places: Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh.”
Parts of Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Uttar Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands are also likely to witness thunderstorms with lightning.
Lightning likely at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, it said.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Odisha while heavy rainfall likely at isolated places in East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Konkan, Goa,” the IMD said.
Strong Winds (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely over Southwest, Westcentral and Northeast Arabian Sea and along & off Gujarat coast and over Westcentral Bay of Bengal and along & off Andhra Pradesh coast.
Southeast Sri Lanka coast & adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas, it said.
