Pakistan-occupied Gilgit, Dec 7 (NVI) Pakistani authorities have arrested a top leader of Gilgit Muhammad Javed in some farcical case, according to his party which has threatened to organise mass protests if he is not released.

Javed, former Chairman of Karakoram National Movement (KNM), is currently Central leader of Awami Action Committee which is spearheading protests in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) against a new law imposed by Pakistan.

Javed has been named in a “baseless FIR” and a pre-arrest bail application was obtained from the District and Sessions Court and the Supreme Court, said Advocate Mumtaz Hussain Nagri, who is Central Chairman of KNM.

He said the pre-arrest bail was valid till December 10 but in violation of that, the police arrested him today.

Nagri said if the “rogue law-breaking forces” act like this, then the courts may be shut down.

“If Muhammad Javed is not released, then we will also be forced to call the people to protest against the lawlessness,” Advocate Nagri said.
