New Delhi (NVI): The nation today pays rich tributes to renowned poet and India’s first Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his 79th death anniversary. Fondly called a ‘Gurudev’, India’s national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ was written by him.

Due to his wisdom, patriotism, gifted artistry, and achievements, Rabindra Nath Tagore’s name evokes respect and pride in the hearts of every Indian.

Tagore was the author of the “profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse” of Gitanjali, which got him Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tributes to Tagore on his death anniversary today. “He used to say the highest education is that which not only gives us information but brings our life in harmony with our complete existence,” the PM said while addressing ‘Conclave on Transformational Reforms in Higher Education under National Education Policy’.

Definitely, the large goal of the National Education Policy is connected to this ideology, he added.
