Srinagar, Sep 30 (NVI) Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain today said that in the past 30 years of his service as a Police officer, his main aim was to see smiles on the face of people and he believes he hasn’t lost the opportunity.
Swain stated this while speaking to reporters at Balidan Stambh (Martyrs Memorial) after laying wreaths to pay tributes to the fallen heroes, DGP Swain said today was his last day of service. “For a police officer, Balidan Stambh is not less than a place of worship, in fact not less than that. There are scores of fallen heroes who have sacrificed their lives for the cause. It is my duty to pay rich tributes to all the heroes on the last day of my service,”
DGP Swain said. He is going to the office by today evening. He will be succeeded by Nalin Prabhat, a decorated cop who led the elite anti-Naxal unit before being called to J&K to lead the 1.20 lakh police force personnel.
To a query what were the main challenges for him as since his journey in police right up to the rank of DGP, Swain said: “This opportunity doesn’t come to all. For this, I am thankful to the Almighty and the government and then to my colleagues. For all these years, I tried to contribute to bring lasting peace, the peace with dignity to J&K with all my sincerity, soul, body and mind.”
Swain said that he tried to see the smiles on the faces of people irrespective of cast, colour and creed. “I tried to remove fear. I am thankful to all mothers, sisters, children, old age citizens and all for their support. I believe that everyone in J&K should enjoy peace, live a life free from fear and intimidation. I think I have not lost the opportunity to ensure this all,” the DGP said. (News Vives of India).
