Lahore: The Pakistani police suffered another major attack on the second consecutive day, with the Mujahideen of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) tonight targeting a police station in Mianwali district of Punjab Province, causing unspecified casualties besides damage to the building.

The Mujahideen attacked Makarwal police station in Mianwali at around 9.30 PM local time (10 PM IST), the outfit’s spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said in a message to News Vibes of India (NVI).

“In the attack, light and heavy weapons including sniper, rocket, pica and GL were used,” he said, adding there is a “high probability of casualties”.

The police station was also partially damaged, Khurasani said.

“The Mujahideen managed to get out safely,” he added.

According to Mianwali District police, the attack was carried out by “15-20 militants”, leading to a fierce gunfight.

The attack on Mianwali Police station came just a day after a massive suicide bomb attack on the Police Lines in Peshawar.
