Peshawar: Describing Pakistan Army as “a slave and mercenary force”, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has slammed its Chief General Asim Munir for saying that the Islamist organisation was operating out of Afghanistan.

In a statement, the TTP said Gen Munir was trying to “cover up for his cowardice” by misrepresenting facts as he was “frightened by the attacks of the (TTP) Mujahideen” on the “slave Army”.

The statement, issued by TTP spokesman Muhammad Khurasani, came after Gen Munir said that “safe havens and liberty or action (was) available to TTP in Afghanistan”.

The Army Chief stated this yesterday after visiting the Zhob Garrison in Balochistan, which was stormed by 5 suicide attackers of Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP) a day earlier, killing 9 soldiers and injuring 15.

“General Asim Munir, the head of ‘Ghulam’ (slave) and mercenary forces, in a statement has urged the Islamic Emirate (Taliban rulers of Afghanistan) to take immediate action against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, otherwise they will respond,” Khurasani said.

“The Chief of the slave Army, who is frightened by the attacks of the Mujahideen, is trying to hide the facts and cover up for his cowardice,” the TTP spokesman said.

Disputing Gen Munir, Khurasani said the TTP has entire system inside Pakistan and it never has used the land of the neighbouring country (Afghanistan).

“We have our bases inside Pakistan from where we are continuing our holy jihad,” the TTP spokesman asserted.

He said the TTP operations have moved to the interior areas of Pakistan, which do not share the border with Afghanistan.

“So, we say that instead of making statements contrary to the facts, show up in the field. The shrieks of the (Pakistan) Army, which claims to be Number One Army, will be heard by everyone,” Khurasani said.

The TTP has been carrying out multiple attacks on daily basis on the Pakistan Army and its associated forces, causing heavy losses in terms of men and material.

“In the end, let’s make our position clear once again. Our war will continue from our own land against this force (Pakistan Army) imposed on Pakistan, thanks to Allah. The destiny of this country is the implementation of the Islamic system and getting rid of the imposed group (Pakistan Army), God willing.”

TTP, which is waging an open war against the Pakistan Army, has been dubbing it as the most corrupt force and holding it responsible for all ills in the country.
