Peshawar: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has vowed to intensively target the Pakistani establishment and its security forces, carried out 46 attacks in the first month of the current year, causing 107 casualties, according to the Islamist outfit.
The TTP issued a detailed report of its activities undertaken in the month of January, specifying the number and nature of attacks along with the targets, including the Pakistan Army, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and secret agents.
Total attacks carried out were 46 and the places of operation were Dera Ismail Khan (8 attacks), North Waziristan (7 attacks), Lucky Marwat (6 attacks), Peshawar (5 attacks), Khyber Agency (4 attacks), South Waziristan (3 attacks), Swabi (3 attacks), Tonic (2 attacks), Charsadda (2 attacks) and one each attack in Qila Abdullah, Pusheen, Dera Ghazi Khan, Khanewal, Saurabh and Quetta.
About the nature of operations, the TTP said there was one suicide attack, 9 targeted attacks, 8 each ambushes and guerrilla attacks, 7 Sniper/Laser Attacks, 5 grenades attacks/bombings and 4 counter attacks.
Giving a break-up of ‘enemy casualties’, it said there were 49 deaths and 58 were injured, both totaling 107.
They included 60 police/CTD personnel, 25 Army personnel, 13 Frontier Corps personnel and 9 secret agents, it said.
The TTP seized 7 Kalashnikov (AK) rifles, 1 G3 gun and 1 pistol during these operations, it said.
TTP, which wants implementation of Sharia laws in Pakistan, declared in November last that it will intensively target the Pakistani establishment and its forces across the country till its objective is achieved.
It made the declaration after ending a ceasefire with the government, accusing the Pakistani Army and other forces of carrying out oppression in Pashtun-dominated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
