Peshawar: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) today said it killed a Major-rank officer of Pakistan Army and injured 4 other personnel while thwarting an ambush by the military in this Province last night.
The Army tried to ambush the TTP Mujahideen in Ghundi area of Jamrud District of Khyber Agency, Peshawar Province, the outfit’s spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said in a statement.
However, the Mujahideen retaliated and killed Major Abdullah and injured four officers, he said.
Khurasani said the humiliated Army personnel then resorted to torturing of innocent people by picking them up from their homes in the name of search operation, “which is a proof of their failure”.
This is not the first time that the TTP has foiled an attempt by the Pakistani military to ambush its cadres.
Khurasani added that the outfit had killed a police officer, identified as Ajmal Khan, days after picking him up from cricket ground in Kambar Khel area of Bara Tirah Maidan in Peshawar Province.
Khan was killed after being found guilty in an investigation, the TTP spokesman said.
