TTP has access to advanced Javelin missiles, say some reports

Peshawar, April 14 (NVI): Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which is engaged in an all-out war against the Pakistani military, has gained access to highly-advance US-made Javelin anti-tank guided missiles, according to some Pakistani media outlets.

Possession of these missiles,  if these media reports are to be believed, will give a huge advantage to the TTP fighters in the ongoing war aimed at establishing Sharia laws in Pakistan.

These missiles can be used against not only the tanks and military outposts but even the helicopters.

Known for their ‘fire-and-forget’ targeting system, the Javelin missiles automatically lock onto and striking their targets.

The TTP cadres, believed to be thousands in numbers, have already spread out wide and deep across Pashtun-dominated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan under the ‘Operation Al-Khandaq’ or the Spring Offensive launched last month.

The TTP-related social media handles regularly post videos showing its cadres, including in commando fighting gears and carrying modern weapons, carrying out patrolling in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to send out a message that the writ of that Pakistan State is fast declining in the region.

Under the ‘Operation Al-Khandaq’, the TTP regularly carries out attacks at the Pakistani military, its assets and affiliates, causing human and material losses to the State.

In its latest update, the TTP said it carried out a number of attacks, including sniper firing, at Pakistani military personnel and assets over the last two days, and killed at least 6 soldiers and some other casualties regarding which details were not known.

Giving a break-up of its operations, TTP spokesman Muhammad Khorasani said the Pakistani Taliban attacked the ‘Wat Khora’ military post in Boya Hamzoni of North Waziristan district using a sniper at around 11 pm (Pakistan Standard Time) yesterday.

At least 2 military personnel were killed and a security camera was damaged in the attack, he said.

Earlier in the day, 3 military personnel were killed in Taliban sniper attacks on military personnel who were coming for an operation in the Tirah Darbar area of ​​Bara district of Khyber province, the spokesman said.

Several vehicles and a security camera were also damaged.

One military official was killed in a sniper attack on the Zangi post located in the Tirah Maidan area of ​​Bara district of Khyber province early yesterday morning, he said.

At around 5 pm yesterday, the Taliban attacked the Spelga Qala in Miranshah of North Waziristan district, using a Grenade Launcher, he said, adding there were casualties among the soldiers.

A day earlier, a surveillance camera was targeted in a Taliban sniper attack in Sararogha district of South Waziristan province, he said.

On the same day, the Pakistani Taliban carried out two mine blasts on military officials on the Loni and Bacha Abad roads of Kalachi district of DI Khan province, in which casualties were reported, he said.

The Taliban ambushed an army foot patrol party on the Loni road of Kalachi district of DI Khan province, in which several officials were killed and injured, the spokesman said.

An army and intelligence agency official was killed in a Taliban attack in Tangi Loi Kali area of ​​Salarzo district of Bajaur province on Saturday, he said. (NVI)
