TTP says it killed 137 Pakistani security personnel, injured 189 in 262 operations in September

Peshawar: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed to have killed 137 Pakistani security personnel and injured 189 in 262 operations during the month of September in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Balochistan provinces.

In a statement to NVI, the Islamist outfit said the Pakistani military, including the Special Services Group (SSG), bore the maximum casualty of 179 killed and injured.

The TTP also killed and injured 59 personnel of the paramilitary force Frontier Corps, 84 of the police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and 4 of the Intelligence agencies/Peace committees, according to the statement.

 

Giving a detailed break-up of the operations, TTP spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said the maximum 88 operations took place in Bannu district, 81 in Dera Ismail Khan, 42 in Peshawar district, 32 in Malakand district, 10 in Kohat district and two in Mardan district.

 

All these districts are in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province which is the stronghold of the TTP.

 

According to the statement, 6 operations were carried out in Balochistan and 2 in Punjab.

 

In the Bannu district, 70 operations took place in North Waziristan tehsil, 11 in Lakki Marwat tehsil and 7 in Bannu tehsil.

 

In the district of Dera Ismail Khan, South Waziristan tehsil saw 63 operations, Dera Ismail Khan tehsil saw 15 and Tank tehsil witnessed 3 operations.

 

In Peshawar district, Khyber Agency tehsil saw 30 operations, Mohmand Agency tehsil saw 9, Peshawar tehsil recorded 2 and Nowshera 1.

 

In Malakand district, Bajaur Agency recorded 12 operations, Upper Dir 9, Lower Dir 5, Chitral 3, Swat 2 and Shangla 1.

 

In Kohat district, Kurram Agency saw 7 operations while Orakzai Agency, Kohat and Karak saw 1 each.

 

In Mardan district, Mardan tehsil and Swabi tehsil witnessed 1 each operations.

 

In Balochistan, 2 operations each took place in Quetta and Zhob districts and one each in Kalat and Makran districts.

 

Punjab saw two operations – one each in Mianwali and Lahore, according to the statement.

 

As far as nature of operations were concerned, there were 94 Sniper/Laser Attacks, 70 Guerrilla Attacks, 40 Ambushes, 24 Grenade/Bomb Blasts, 11 Raids, 11 Counterattacks, 6 Missile Attacks and  6 Targeted Killings, the TTP said.

 

These operations resulted in the destruction of 27 military vehicles, 35 CCTV Cameras, 7 Drone Cameras, 6 Military Constructions, 2 Tanks, 1 Oil Tanker and 1 Solar Power System.

 

The TTP said it had seized from the enemy 10 G3 Rifles, 4 Kalashnikovs and other firearms, 3 Security Cameras, 1 LMG (Light Machine Gun), 1 Thermal Scope, 1 Night Vision Scope,

thousands of rounds of ammunition, magazines, and various other military assets.
