Quetta: A suicide bomber of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) today blew himself up at a security check post at Quetta Airport Chowk, killing an unspecified number of personnel from Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps (FC).
Significantly, the bomb attack occurred when a friendly cricket match between teams led by Babbar Azam and Sarfaraz Ahmed was underway in the nearby Quetta stadium.
While the Pakistani establishment tried to suppress details of the bomb explosion, TTP sent a statement to News Vibes of India (NVI), claiming responsibility for the attack.
TTP spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said the outfit’s martyr Mujahid Mansoor Bilal carried out the suicide attack on the Pakistan Army and FC convoy near Musa check post at Quetta Airport Chowk.
In the attack, 3 vehicles were destroyed and 10 Army soldiers and 20 FC personnel were either killed or injured he said.
The casualties included an Army officer, according to Khurasani.
It’s not unusual for the Pakistani establishment to suppress information related to casualties suffered by the military personnel in attacks by rebels, including TTP and Baloch groups.
