Peshawar: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has issued a strong warning to the Pakistan establishment, saying it will target its officials and their relatives if the “undeclared war” launched by the “State institutions” against the relatives of TTP cadres is not stopped within a month.
“For some time, the power-hungry State institutions have launched an unannounced operation against those people whose relatives are in the ranks of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, especially in DI Khan and Peshawar provinces,” TTP spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said in a statement.
He said some of the relatives of TTP cadres have been arrested while some have been forced to leave their homes and their areas by harassing them in various ways.
Businesses and properties of some have been confiscated by the State authorities, the TTP spokesman said.
He said the people of Pakistan and especially the scholars, political parties and tribal elders need to realise that the current Interim government of Pakistan, by adopting the policy of the “Establishment” (implying the Army), has already “sown the seeds of hatred and enmity with the Afghan people”.
“In exactly the same way, a nefarious attempt is being made to open a new chapter of hatred and enmity between the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and the neutral relatives of those in the Pakistani security institutions,” Khurasani said.
“We consider it necessary to warn the government officials and their relatives that if this dangerous chapter is not halted within a month, then this fire will reach the government officials and their relatives,” he declared.
“Therefore, it is the duty of all scholars, political parties and national leaders to try to curb such fanatical decisions and policies of enmity against the country and the nation,” he added.
