Jammu (NVI): An Indian Army Dhruv helicopter crashed this evening in Lakhanpur area of Kathua district in Jammu region, with two pilots onboard receiving grievous injuries, one of whom later succumbed at a hospital.
As per officials, Lt col Rishab Sharma died in MH Pathankot while Capt Anjani Kumar Singh was on ventilator support. Both the pilots are from 254 Army Aviation, they said.
The incident took place as Army’s Dhruv helicopter, which was on a routine patrolling today, crashed inside an Army establishment near Basoli Morh of Lakhanpur.
The two pilots on board suffered serious injuries and were shifted to hospital for treatment, as per official sources.
The helicopter was damaged completely in the incident, however, the pilot and the co-pilot ejected in the nick of time but sustained serious injuries. The area was put under cordon after the crash, they said.
