Peshawar: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) carried out at least 2 major attacks at the Pakistan Army since last night, causing substantial losses to the military in terms of men and material, according to the Islamist organisation.
At least 6 Pakistani soldiers were confirmed dead and several injured in one attack in South Waziristan Province this morning, it said.
“Today, Mujahideen of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan ambushed a military convoy in Zasar area of Makin district of South Waziristan province, in which 6 military personnel were killed and several others were injured,” its spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said in a statement.
He said rockets and Pika guns were also used in the attack, which also damaged military vehicles.
Khurasani said last night, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan mujahideen fired several rockets at Kishangarh Army base in Peshawar.
The camp was engulfed in a major blaze and there is a strong possibility of financial and human loss, he said.
The Pakistani regime and Military mostly hide and suppress the casualties suffered by the armed forces due to such attacks.
However, the fact that the government forces are on the receiving end due to surmounting attacks by TTP is reflected by an advisory issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Police yesterday.
The advisory asked police personnel not to move around in uniform but in civil clothes. It also asked them to offer prayers at home only.
This comes after the TTP killed several policemen in targeted attacks in KPK over the last weeks and months.
Commenting on the advisory, TTP spokesman said it had been issued in view of recent “successful operations” by the outfit.
Utilizing this opportunity, the TTP sent out a “message” to the police personnel, advising them to stay away from the “war waged by the (Pakistan) Army for dollars” and instead earn their living by some other “lawful way”.
“We have already given the message to the police to leave this war between us and the army. It (police personnel leaving their jobs) has been implemented at some places. They (police personnel) live a peaceful life there as promised (by TTP) and they and their families avoid calamity of the future,” Khurasani said.
Earlier too, the TTP has asked the Police not to help the Army and paramilitary forces, by which they get involved in the “war” between the Islamist outfit and the military.
