New Delhi (NVI): UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reduced the length of his visit to India due to COVID-19 situation in the country, his spokesperson has said.
Johnson was to spend a few days in India starting April 26 as part of a planned itinerary, which is expected to include finalising a UK-India Enhanced Trade Partnership.
“The PM has made the decision to reduce the length of this visit. It’ll be a shorter programme, in New Delhi. It will include a bilateral meeting with PM Modi,” the spokesperson said.
“The ‘bulk of the programme’ will now take place on April 26th,” spokesperson added.
According to the Union Health Ministry, India reported the highest ever daily spike of coronavirus infections with over 1.84 lakh new cases and more than 1,000 deaths in the last 24 hours.
