UPSC Results Out: Several Candidates from Kashmir Recommended for Civil Services

Srinagar, Mar 6 (NVI): Several candidates from Kashmir have figured in the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), which has recommended 958 candidates for appointment to various prestigious services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS).

According to the official list released by the commission, candidates with Kashmiri backgrounds such as Towseef Ahmad Ganaie, Muneeb Afzal Parrah, Mohammed Ashmil Shah and Irfan Ahmed Lone are among those recommended for appointment to the civil services.

The results were declared following the written examination held in August 2025 and the personality test interviews conducted between December 2025 and February 2026.

As per the commission, a total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment across various services. These include selections for the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and several Central Services under Group A and Group B.

Official data reveals that the selected candidates belong to different categories, including 317 from the general category, 104 from economically weaker sections (EWS), 306 from other backward classes (OBC), 158 from scheduled castes (SC) and 73 from scheduled tribes (ST).

The commission has also maintained a consolidated reserve list of 258 candidates in accordance with the rules governing the examination.

According to the government, the total number of vacancies reported for the examination cycle stands at 1087 across various services. These include 180 vacancies in the IAS, 55 in the IFS, 150 in the IPS, 507 in Central Services Group A and 195 in Group B services.

Officials said that the claims of recommended candidates regarding reservation categories will be verified by the concerned authorities.

The commission also noted that the candidature of 348 recommended candidates has been kept provisional, while the results of two candidates have been withheld.

The Civil Services Examination conducted by the UPSC is regarded as one of the most competitive examinations in the country and serves as the main gateway for recruitment into India’s top administrative, police and diplomatic services.(NVI)
