J&K govt has failed to curb terrorism: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, July 17 (NVI) Jammu and Kashmir government has failed to curb terrorism in the Union Territory, National Conference leader and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said today, while referring to the spate of terror attacks.

Replying to questions of the media persons on recent terrorist attack in Doda district, Omar said there is hardly any area in Jammu where terrorist attacks have not taken place in the recent past.

Tall claims of the Government that militancy on its last leg are bogus are only visible to them,not general public of Jammu and Kashmir, he said.

To a question regarding recent remarks by PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti alleging that DGP R.R.Swain was pursuing political agenda on communal lines, Omar said he will not make any comment on communal lines.

“But yes, the DGP should leave politics to politicians and focus more on security of the state. We can’t fight terrorism. We can only raise our voice and support government,” he said.

He also criticised UT administration on the arrest of several youths who raised pro-Palestine and pro-Hamas slogans on 8th Moharram two days back.

He said it is easy for the government to target Muslim religious processions.

Regarding giving more power’s to LG, Omar said these are on expected line.

“The UT has failed in every region with no development anywhere. We want  statehood status of J&K back and power should be transferred back to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, he added. (News Vibes of India)
