Srinagar, Sep 11 (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee’s (PCC’s) Legislature Party meeting was held at the party headquarters in Srinagar this afternoon where the party leaders decided to give letter of support to National Conference by today evening.
Only winning candidates were present in the meeting chaired by J&K PCC chief Karra. “We have decided to hand over the letter of support NC by today evening,” Karra told reporters after the LP meeting.
Asked whether there is any demand from Congress like seeking deputy chief minister’s post etc, the J&K Congress chief said nothing of that sort was discussed in today’s meeting. “Let Alliance meet tomorrow. We will discuss things there,” he said.
To a query independent candidates were not only with NC but with Congress also, why they aren’t back to the fold, Karra said: “Don’t read much out of that. Those who have returned to NC were their own people.”
Earlier, NC leadership had stated that once they would receive the letter of support from Congress, they would hold an Alliance meeting after which the alliance will stake claim on government formation. Now NC has 42 plus four independents and six legislators from Congress which means that the NC-Congress alliance has 53 legislators on board. The number to form the government was 48.
