WB: 4 dead in Cooch Behar, polling halts

    New Delhi (NVI): At least four people were killed in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar today as CISF opened fire outside a polling booth during the fourth phase of assembly elections in the state.

    Reportedly, the CISF officers opened fire after a clash between political workers broke out in the area.

    The Election Commission (EC) adjourned voting in Polling Station 125 of Sitalkurchi seat after the clashes.

    Furthermore, EC has sought a report on the incident from the district officials.

    44 seats are voting today in the fourth phase of the West Bengal assembly elections. The seats are spread across the districts of Howrah, Hooghly, Alipurduar, Coochbehar and 24 Parganas (S).
