New Delhi (NVI): At least five people were killed and four others sustained injures in a explosion in a plastic factory in West Bengal today morning.

The incident was reported from Sujapur area of Malda district of West Bengal, at around 11 am, according to the reports.

Meanwhile, the injured people have been admitted to Malda Medical College and Hospital.

Reportedly, State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakhs for the families of those killed in the incident and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

As per the officials, the explosion took place inside the factory where plastic is melted for further use. The machine which is electrically powered malfunctioned and blew up killing five and injuring others.

The police officers and rescue team reached the spot to douse to blaze and ascertain the exact reason behind the blast, while the investigation is underway.
