Winged Guests start their date with Kashmir, Wildlife Department issues advisory

Srinagar, Nov 27 (NVI): The Department of Wildlife Protection, Wetlands Division Kashmir today issued an advisory regarding the arrival of migratory birds in the region’s wetlands.

“These birds, which travel from various parts of the world, will inhabit and move between Kashmir’s wetlands during the winter months. To safeguard these migratory visitors, the department has laid out strict guidelines,” reads an advisory, a copy of which lies with News Vibes of India (NVI).

The development comes at a time when hundreds of migratory birds are arriving in Kashmir wetlands to stay here till the onset of summers.

The advisory further reads the entry into the wetlands is prohibited without prior permission. “Bird watchers must obtain proper authorization to access these areas. Any unauthorized entry will be treated as a violation of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and legal action will be taken against offenders”, it said.

It also appealed to media outlets to raise awareness and encourage the community to protect these avian guests during their stay. “Together, we can ensure the safety and preservation of these magnificent creatures,” stated the notice. (News Vibes of India)
