New Delhi (NVI): With 12,881 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, India’s coronavirus cases tally reached 10,950,201, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.
The death count climbed to 1,56,014 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 101 lives during this period, the data showed. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.42 per cent.
Currently, more than 1.06 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stand at 10,656,845 pushing the national recovery rate to 97.32 per cent.
There are 1,37,342 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which accounts for 1.25 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.
In worst-affected Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increased to 20,76,093 followed by Kerala with 10,16,848 and Karnataka with 9,46,454 positive cases.
The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh (8,89,010), Tamil Nadu (8,46,480), Delhi (6,37,315) and Uttar Pradesh (6,02,410).
At the same time, 94,22,228 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far with over 4.2 lakh of them receiving their shots in the last 24 hours. India is currently focused on vaccinating its healthcare and frontline workers.
Meanwhile, a fresh set of travel guidelines has been issued as two new, highly more infectious strains of Covid — the South African and the Brazilian strains — have been detected in India.
