Kupwara (NVI): Stuck on the way to hospital due to roads blocked by heavy snowfall, a pregnant woman in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir gave birth to a baby boy in an Army ambulance with the help of a medical team.

After getting stuck due to roads blocked by snow, the family of the woman didn’t have any option left due to inclement weather but call Army for help.

The Army immediately sent an ambulance in a bid to shift the woman, who was writhing in labour pain, to hospital. However, the woman gave birth to the baby in the army ambulance itself that was on way to hospital.

According to the defence spokesperson, the woman, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, gave birth in an Army ambulance while on way to a hospital.

The lady and the newborn were later taken to Kalaroos hospital and admitted there.

Kalaroos Company Commander, in the early hours yesterday, received an ASHA worker’s distress call requesting for immediate evacuation of a patient in labour pain in Narikoot, Kupwara, to hospital. The ambulance was unable to reach the patient due to heavy snowfall.
