Woman, Newborn Among 3 Killed in Separate Road Accidents in Rajouri, Jammu

Srinagar, Mar 9 (NVI): Three persons, including a woman and her five-day-old baby, were killed while three others were injured in two separate road accidents in Rajouri and Jammu districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said.

According to officials, Shanaz Akhter (40), a resident of Mandi in Poonch district, and her newborn baby lost their lives after the car they were travelling in collided with a school bus in the Sunderbani area of Rajouri district.

An official told NVI that the car driver, identified as Shakeel Ahmad, also sustained injuries in the accident and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The victims were reportedly travelling from Jammu towards Poonch when the mishap occurred.

In a separate incident in Jammu district, one person was killed while two others were injured after a motorcycle collided with a truck that was allegedly coming from the wrong side near Miran Sahib.

Officials said the injured were immediately shifted to a hospital and their condition was stated to be serious. Further investigation into both accidents has been taken up by the concerned authorities. —(NVI)
