Srinagar, Sep 27 (NVI): Aru village in Pahalgam tourist resort has received the Adventure Tourism Award under the prestigious Best Tourism Villages Competition 2024 on World Tourism Day. The award was announced in a function in a function at New Delhi.
Launched in 2023, the Best Tourism Villages Competition aims to acknowledge villages doing exceptionally well in preserving their cultural and natural heritage for tourism purposes in a responsible and sustainable manner.
This year, 991 villages across 30 states and Union Territories participated in the competition, while 36 were declared winners in different categories; under the adventure tourism head, the winner is Aru, renowned for trekking, skiing, and camping experience.
An official reflects on this great achievement, saying that, “This award not only recognizes the natural beauty of Aru but also our commitment to sustainable tourism. It gives us a prime destination within the village for adventure seekers while ensuring that our environment is preserved.”
Aru in the Himalayas foothills, is remarkable in landscapes and adventure opportunities that bring visitors from far away. Inhabitants are exhilarated by the status, telling that the village well becomes one example of how towns may blend non-traditional ways of life into tourism supporting local economic development.
“Aru is not only a destination for adventure, but it teaches that villages can really integrate cultural preservation with the type of tourism that supports economic growth within a village,” said a local, Tariq Ahmed.
From this title in the pocket now, Aru is on course to draw even more visitors under a powerful vision of sustainability and a culture under preservation.
