Udhampur, Apr 20 (NVI): At least 12 people were killed and several others injured after a passenger bus met with an accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Monday, officials said.
The bus was travelling from Ramnagar to Udhampur when it met with the accident near the Jalo area, they said.
“Twelve people have died in the accident, while several others sustained injuries. Rescue teams have reached the spot,” a senior police official said.
The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, officials said, adding that a rescue operation is underway.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Udhampur Shiv Kumar Sharma reached the spot to supervise the rescue and relief operations.
The cause of the accident was not immediately known, they added.(NVI)
