Srinagar (NVI): Two CRPF troopers were killed and as many were injured today as terrorists attacked a security patrol in Lawaypora area of Srinagar, security officials said.
The incident took place at 3.45 pm as terrorists affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba targeted a CRPF vehicle of 73rd battalion at Lawaypora on National Highway Srinagar.
The Kashmir zone police said that the two slain CRPF personnel were identified as SI/GD Manga Ram Dev Barman and Ct Ashok Kumar of 73Bn CRPF.

In a statement, CRPF said that terrorists attacked on security personnel on ROP (Road Opening Party) duty in Lawaypora in outskirts of Srinagar.
All the injured personnel were immediately evacuated to hospital for the treatment of their injuries. However, two of the injured succumbed to their injuries, as per the official statement.
J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the terror attack and expressed his sympathies with the families of slain troopers. The LG said that terrorists will never succeed in their nefarious designs and those responsible for such heinous acts shall be brought to justice.
Meanwhile, police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation has been launched and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of the terror crime besides identifying the terrorists involved. The area has been cordoned and search operations are underway to nab the attackers.
Earlier on Monday, four LeT terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.
