Jammu: In a span of 2 days, Pakistan-supported terrorists struck for the second time in Jammu region, killing a man this evening in Kathua district and injuring 2 others.
One of the terrorists was soon shot dead by the security forces who rushed to the spot after the attack.
At around 7.45 pm, a group of 2-3 terrorists reached a house in Saida village in Hiranagar Tehsil of Kathua district, police said.
They asked for water but a man and a boy, present in the house, tried to run away after realising that they were terrorists.
The terrorists fired at them, killing the man identified as Bittu.
Two other persons were injured in the firing by the terrorists.
However, soon a team of security forces reached the spot and engaged the terrorists in a gunfight.
One terrorist has been killed by security forces, the police said.
The other terrorists took shelter in the house and an encounter is underway.
The attack in Kathua took place just two days after a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims was targeted by terrorists in the adjoining Reasi district of Jammu province.
At least 9 innocent people were killed and 33 injured in that attack.
