New Delhi (NVI): As many as 301 trainees, comprising Midshipmen and Cadets of the Indian Navy and Coast Guard passed out from the Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala today, marking the culmination of their ab-initio training.

The parade also saw 39 women trainees marching shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts to join the ranks of the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard, an official statement said.

Among them were six international trainees who passed out in the the spectacular Passing out Parade and were from friendly foreign countries of Maldives, Seychelles and Sri Lanka.

The parade was reviewed by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh, who awarded medals to meritorious Midshipmen and Cadets on completion of the ceremonial review.

The ‘President’s Gold Medal’ for the INA B.Tech course was awarded to Midshipman Aditya Jain while the ‘Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal’ for the Naval Orientation Course (Extended) went to Cadet J Aravindha Krishnan.

The ‘Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal’ for the Naval Orientation (Regular) Course was awarded to Cadet Srishti Sharma (Coast Guard trainee) and the ‘Zamorin Trophy’ for the best women cadet was awarded to Cadet Suhani Rampal.

These officers will proceed to various Naval and Coast Guard ships and establishments to further consolidate their training in specialised fields, the statement added.
