Srinagar, Nov 08(NVI): During the past few years life returned to normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir after over three decades of turmoil. Few months back the Centre filed a fresh affidavit in the Supreme Court claiming that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing an “unprecedented era of peace, progress and prosperity” after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
The result is evident which could be seen by the unprecedented rush of tourists to the state. J&K has seen a remarkable growth in tourism and other business activities triggering a boom to the local economy which mostly thrives on tourism and agro based products.
Bandhs and hartals are now seen as a distant past. Resolute anti-terror actions have dismantled the terror eco-system which led to a significant drop in terror recruitment.
The government has come up to its commitment of crushing the terror modules and outfits.
In a recent public address, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reiterated that the terrorists and those aiding and sheltering them will face the consequences as part of the determined campaign to wipe out the scourge.
Although the region has seen a dramatic escalation in targeted attacks and encounters between militants and security forces ever since Omar Abdullah took oath as the CM of UT on 16th October, the security forces dedication to wipe out the terrorists is noticeable.
7 terrorists were neutralised in five encounters that took place in different parts of UT in one week.
On Saturday one terrorist was killed by the security forces in Khanyar area of old city Srinagar whereas two more terrorists were killed on the same day in another encounter that took place in Shangus area of Anantnag.
In a third encounter in Bandipora, one terrorists dead body was recovered by the security forces after shooting him down. Three terrorists were killed, one in Lolab Kupwara and two in an encounter in Sagipora Sopore in North Kashmir.
Out of the total of seven terrorists killed in 5 encounters, one was identified as a foreign national who was affiliated to the terror outfit Lashkar e Taiba. (News Vibes of India).
