New Delhi (NVI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said that the government has no plans for another lockdown in the national capital, amid speculations on the same.
The Delhi CM took to Twitter and wrote: “Many people are speculating whether another lockdown in Delhi in being planned. There are no such plans.”
Kejriwal’s clarification also comes after PIB’s Fact Check Unit yesterday busted a fake viral message on Facebook claiming strict lockdown in Delhi-NCR from June 18.
“Claim: A message on Facebook claiming strict #Lockdown from 18th June.
#PIBFactCheck: It’s #Fake. There is no such plan under consideration. Please beware of rumour mongers,” it tweeted.
The message claimed that Home Ministry sources are confirming Delhi NCR complete lockdown from 18th June for 4 weeks. “This time it’s going to be very strict. No one will be allowed out. President’s rule in Delhi. Everyone, please do all necessary work which involves movement of paper, file, computer, etc ASAP before Delhi gets lockdown,” the Facebook post read.
Meanwhile, Delhi CM’s clarification in this regard today further put to rest the speculations regarding another lockdown in Delhi.
With over 41,000 cases, Delhi has third-highest cases in the country. To discuss the management of Covid-19 crisis in Delhi, an all-party meeting was held today, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Yesterday also, the Home Minister held two meetings with Delhi CM, mayors and commissioners of Delhi’s three municipal corporations in this regard. Union Health Minister and Delhi LG Anil Baijal were also present in the initial meeting yesterday.
