Covid-19: 25-year-old man among 6 fresh deaths in J&K, toll 498

Srinagar (NVI): Six people including a 25-year-old man were fresh casualties of Covid-19 reported in Jammu and Kashmir since morning, health officials said today.

With six more deaths due to the deadly virus, the number of people who have died of the novel coronavirus in J&K have reached 498, of which 461 were reported in Kashmir division and 37 in Jammu division.

Officials said that the casualties include a 25-year-old man from Dangiwachi Baramulla, a 78-year-old man from Lal Bazar, Srinagar, a 68-year-old man from Rainawari, Srinagar, a 60-year-old man from Nawabazar, Srinagar, a 70-year-old man from Marhama, Anantnag, and a 50-year-old woman from Larkipora, Anantnag.

An official at SKIMS hospital Soura said that a 25-year-old male from Dangiwachi Baramulla who was admitted on August 11 died this morning.

He further said that a 78-year-old man from Lal Bazar Srinagar who was admitted on July 24 also died today after testing COVID-19 positive.

An official from SMHS said that a 68-year-old-man from Rainawari who was admitted on August 6 with COPD, bilateral Pneumonia and other ailments died today morning. “He was tested positive for Covid,” the official said.

He further added that a 60-year-old man from Nawabazar, Srinagar who was admitted on August 4 and also had Pneumonia succumbed early morning today.

An official at GMC Anantnag said that a 70-year-old man from Marhama, Anantnag and a 50-year-old woman from Larkipora, Anantnag who were undergoing treatment from past many days at the hospital and passed away this morning after their condition deteriorated. “Both had tested positive for the virus,” the official said.
