New Delhi (NVI): In yet another crackdown on Taliban, the Afghan forces killed 22 terrorists from the outfit in Faryab province in Afghanistan, the country’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) said today.

The terrorists were killed after they attacked Khwaja Sabz Posh and Pashtoon Kot districts, as well as parts of Maimana, the provincial capital yesterday, reports TOLO news.

“Zulfiqar, a Taliban group leader, is among the dead,” the Afghan defence ministry was quoted as saying by TOLO news.

However, the Taliban has not commented on the attack and there is no information about security force casualties as yet.

Day before yesterday, at least 10 Talibani terrorists were killed by Afghanistan’s security forces in southern Kandahar.

The terrorists were killed as they tried to attack the forces, Afghan Ministry of Defence had said adding that the clashes took place in Shah Wali Kot district.

The “attack was pushed back by the security forces,” an Afghan defence official told TOLO news.

There has been an increase in Taliban attacks in the pas few days even as the stage is all set for Afghan peace talks. The process of prisoner swap with the Taliban, a major obstacle in intra-Afghan talks, has largely been completed by Thursday, as per reports.
