Srinagar (NVI): A CRPF jawan was left injured after terrorists attacked a security forces party in Gongoo area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said today.

They said militants targeted a joint team of police and the CRPF at Gongoo area of Pulwama in which one CRPF man sustained injuries. “Militants believed to be two in number fired indiscriminately at the CRPF party at Gongoo area of the district. The forces retaliated effectively,” a police officer said.

He said that keeping in view the civilian presence in the area, the troops fired cautiously to ensure that no one sustains injury. “The militants, however, managed to flee from the spot,” the officer said.

In the terror attack, a CRPF man sustained injuries and was evacuated to a medical facility where he is being treated. “The injured security personnel man belongs to 182 battalion of CRPF,” the official said adding that joint teams of security forces launched a cordon in the area to track the attackers.
