4 JeM terrorists killed, 2 SOG cops injured in encounter in Jammu’s Nagrota

Jammu (NVI): Four Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces early this morning near Ban toll plaza in Nagrota district of Jammu on Jammu-Srinagar Highway, security officials said.

The gunfight which started at around 5 am, also led to the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar highway, they said, adding that 11 weapons were also recovered along with other explosives.

Army’s PRO is Udhampur identified the terrorists from Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit. “Pakistan based terrorist Group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) is based at Bahawalpur in Pakistan and is exploiting the International Boundary area in Punjab –Jammu sector to infiltrate maximum terrorists,” read one of the tweets by Udhampur based PRO.


Earlier, IGP Jammu also tweeted on the killing of four ultras. “Four terrorists have been neutralised and one police constable has been injured in an encounter at Ban Toll Plaza, Jammu with police, CRPF and Army. Area is being sanitised.”

Meanwhile, two special operations group (SOG) cops from Jammu and Kashmir police were also injured in the encounter.

The security officials also said that the gunbattle started near the toll plaza in Ban area of Nagrota when some terrorists, hiding in a truck opened fire at police and paramilitary forces after the vehicle was stopped for checking.

Later, the Army also joined the operation. The two SOG personnel injured have been hospitalized.

The injured personnel have been identified as Kuldeep Raj and Mohammad Ishaq Malik. Both have been admitted in GMC hospital in Jammu with injuries on neck and their condition is said to be stable, the officials said.

CRPF officials also said, “J&K Police and CRPF received input about the movement of militants from Samba sector towards Nagrota Toll Plaza. They were trapped and eliminated. Total 11 AK-47 rifles have been recovered.”
