Dominic Raab meets PM Modi, discusses aspects of India-UK partnership

New Delhi (NVI): UK foreign secretary Dominic Raab today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and both discussed on various aspects of the India-UK partnership.

Recalling his recent telephone conversation with Prime Minister Boris Johnson, PM Modi stressed the importance of the India-UK partnership in the post-COVID world, a Prime Minister’s Office release said.

He called for an ambitious and outcome-oriented 360-degree roadmap covering trade and investment, defence and security, migration and mobility, education, energy, climate change and health, in order to tap the full potential of the bilateral relationship, the release added.

Meanwhile, the foreign secretary conveyed greetings of Prime Minister Boris Johnson to PM Modi and thanked the Prime Minister for participating in the recently held Climate Ambition Summit co-hosted by UK.

He stressed the priority that the UK government attaches to elevating relations with India, based on shared values and interests and the potential to address common global challenges together.

Raab also handed over a letter from Boris Johnson, inviting the Prime Minister to the G7 meeting to be chaired by UK in 2021. The Prime Minister thanked him and accepted the invitation, the release further said.

PM Modi further conveyed his keenness to receive PM Boris Johnson in New Delhi next month, on the occasion of India’s 72nd Republic Day celebrations.

The Prime Minister also took to Twitter in this regard and wrote, “Excellent meeting with Dominic Raab, UK Secretary of State of @FCDOGovUK. Discussed the vast potential of the India-UK partnership in the post-COVID, post-BREXIT world. Looking forward to next month’s visit by PM Boris Johnson as Chief Guest at our Republic Day celebrations.”
