New Delhi (NVI): Four helicopters of Indian Air Force (IAF) and 59 personnel of NDRF launched a joint operation today as the wildfire at Dzukou Valley, continued to spread towards Manipur.
According to a statement by the IAF, after assessing the extent of the fire, it has deployed three more helicopters equipped with Bambi bucket.
Yesterday, an IAF Mi 17 V5 helicopter was deployed for the fire fighting mission at Dzukou Valley near Kohima, the statement said.
Furthermore, a C-130J Hercules aircraft also airlifted 9 ton load for fire fighting including 48 NDRF personnel from Guwahati to Dimapur, it added.
IAF stated that the Bambi Bucket operations by IAF Helicopters will continue tomorrow.
The wildfire broke out in Dzukou range in which the majestic Dzukou valley, a tourist hot spot in Nagaland is located, on Tuesday afternoon.
On Friday, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren made an aerial survey of the fast spreading fire.
