New Delhi (NVI): At least 73 people were dead and over 40 injured when a massive fire broke out on a train travelling from the Pakistani city of Karachi to Rawalpindi on October 31.
The fire was caused in the Tezgam Express train in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province after the cylinder carried by some passengers exploded.
The dead and injured have been shifted to DHQ Hospital in Liaquatpur and Bahawal Victoria Hospital in Bahawalpur.
According to Pak daily The Dawn, “Fire was caused by a cylinder blast when Passengers were preparing their breakfast. Many people saved their lives by jumping off the train.”
“The passengers must have hidden the gas cylinder in their clothes while boarding the train, as carrying one was strictly against the rules,” Dawn reported.
