New Delhi (NVI): A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect Himalayan region, bringing widespread rain and snowfall to the parts of northern India during next five days, the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) said.
According to IMD’s weather bulletin, “Under the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/snowfall very likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad during next 5 days.”
“Also, isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall over Himachal Pradesh for next 3 days and fairly widespread for subsequent 2 days and isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall over Uttarakhand,” it added.
Apart from this, thunderstorm or lighting very likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad during next 5 days and over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between February 23 to 26,” IMD said.
The Met department further predicted that hailstorm also very likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on February 24 and 25, Himachal Pradesh on 25 and 26 and over Uttarakhand during 23 to 26.
Moreover, a cyclonic circulation at 5.8 km above mean sea level lies over north Kerala and neighbourhood, IMD said.
Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall at a few places with isolated thunderstorm and lightning very likely over Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe during next 24 hours
Furthermore, dense fog is likely over isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, northwest Uttar Pradesh in the morning hours on February 23, IMD’s bulletin said.
