New Delhi (NVI): The Punjab government has decided to shut all schools and colleges till March 31 effective from tomorrow, in the wake of the rising coronavirus cases across the state.
All educational institutions other than medical and nursing colleges, will remain closed till March 31 in Punjab, according to the reports.
The decision came after a review meeting on COVID-19 situation took place on Thursday.
Earlier on March 15, the Punjab School Education Board announced the postponement of the final exams of classes 10 and 12 due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in the state. The class 12 exams will start on April 10 instead of March 22, while the class 10 exams will be held from May 4 instead of April 9.
The state government also extended the night curfew from nine to 11 districts where the cases of COVID-19 are rising. The curfew will remain in place from 9 pm to 5 am
On the other hand, cinema halls have been also been asked to operate with 50 per cent capacity in the state and not more than 100 persons are allowed in a mall at any time.
So far, the state has registered 2,05,418 with 2,369 fresh cases reported in past 24 hours. The death toll stands at 6,204 in Punjab.
