Coronavirus cases exceed 123.6 mn globally, Brazil tally tops 12 mn

New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 123.6 million, with over 2,722,000 deaths reported. Over 70 million patients have been cured of the deadly contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 12 million-mark and stand at 12,047,526 while the number of deaths has surged past 2,95,000.

In the US, the total number of coronavirus infection has reached to more than 29.8 million, while the total number of COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 5,42,000 in the country.

Meanwhile, New Zealand has recorded a new case of coronavirus in a cleaner employed at the managed isolation and quarantine facility at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Auckland. The Ministry of Health announced the case, which was picked up during routine testing

France reported 15,792 new coronavirus cases on Monday, more than double the 6,471 reported last Monday.

Non-essential travel will be explicitly banned in England from next Monday under new coronavirus laws which could last until the end of June.

Furthermore, Germany is extending its partial lockdown until April 18, scrapping plans to loosen restrictions that have been in place since December 16 in the face of rising infection rates.

The World Health Organization on Monday blasted the growing gap between the number of coronavirus vaccines administered in rich and poor countries, branding the inequity a global “moral outrage”.
