New Delhi (NVI): Amid speculations over a possible meeting between Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the sidelines of ‘Heart of Asia’ conference tomorrow in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe, the latter today said that no such meeting has been scheduled.
Pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Foreign Minister Qureshi arrived in Dushanbe today for the Heart of Asia conference in which Jaishankar will also be participating.
The presence of Qureshi in the conference being attended by Foreign Ministers of 15 nations has triggered speculations that there could be a meeting between him and Jaishankar on the sidelines.
It will be a major development, considering the tensions between the two countries after the 2019 Pulwama terror attack. Qureshi and Jaishankar will anyway come face to face at the 15-nation conference tomorrow.
The ninth edition of Heart of Asia conference for strengthening peace and development is being organised tomorrow.
EAM Jaishankar touched down in Dushanbe today and met his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu as the two leaders held discussions focused on Afghanistan-related developments and bilateral relations between India and Turkey.
