India’s Covid tally rises by 56,211 fresh cases, 271 deaths

New Delhi (NVI): With 56,211 new coronavirus infections being reported in the last 24 hours, the overall tally has climbed to 12,095,855, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.

The death count climbed to 1,62,114 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 271 lives during this period, the data showed.

Yesterday, India had recorded 68,020 new coronavirus cases. Apart from that, 291 new COVID-19 fatalities were reported across the country.

Currently, more than 1.13 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stands at 11,393,021.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 active caseload increased to 5,40,720 with an increase of 18,912 cases in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra recorded 31,643 new cases on Monday, yet another high for the state, meanwhile, Karnataka reported more than 2,500 cases.

With this, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with 27,45,518 COVID-19 cases followed by Kerala with 11,19,542 and Karnataka with 9,89,804 positive cases.

The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh (8,99,812), Tamil Nadu (8,81,752), Delhi (6,59,616) and Uttar Pradesh (6,15,078).
